Susie was a client of mine that I started doing back in the late 80’s and well into the late 90’s. She was an older church going irish woman that battled some alcohol demons. I used to perm her in a wedge like pattern every so often, or she’d have a short straight pixie type cut. We had a good relationship but this story is more about a lump she had on her head that started small and through the years grew bigger and bigger. When I would put perm rods in her hair I’d have to work around this tumor like bump just to be able to get the rods to lay flat. One day while processing her perm I noticed a crack in her scalp where the bump was. It actually started oozing and what looked like mash potatoes sort of came dripping out. I asked her if it hurt or if her scalp was burning from the perm lotion. She said no. It was gross but at the same time quite interesting, Like for years this lump lay in some incubative state until finally bursting free. Needless to say it healed, and over the next few years that spot on her scalp closed, healed, and grew hair again. We joked about it and forgot that it ever happened. Susie moved away and I honestly have no idea what happened to her. Hopefully her and her scalp are happy and well.
Oozy Susie.
